Biography
Jeshua is mentioned in Ezra, Nehemiah, and 1 Chronicles as the head of a priestly family that returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile. He is listed among the priests who settled in Jerusalem and served in the rebuilt temple. Jeshua's family was responsible for the eleventh division of priestly duties, as organized during the time of King David. The return of Jeshua and other priests was crucial for the restoration of temple worship and the spiritual life of the Jewish community after the exile.

Jeshua
