Hamul חָמוּל
Son of Perez, grandson of Judah.
Biography
Hamul was a son of Perez and a grandson of Judah, one of the twelve sons of Israel (or 'Jacob') (Gen.46.12; 1Ch.2.5). He was born to Perez, who was the son of Judah and Tamar (Gen.38.29). Hamul is mentioned in the genealogy of Judah, which is recorded in the book of Genesis when Jacob and his family moved to Egypt during the famine (Gen.46.12). He is also listed in the census of the Israelites taken in the wilderness of Sinai (Num.26.21). The descendants of Hamul, known as the Hamulites, are mentioned as one of the clans of the tribe of Judah (Num.26.21).
