Hakkoz הַקוֹץ
A priest in the time of David.
Biography
Hakkoz is mentioned in 1Ch.24.10 as one of the priests who served during the reign of King David. He was the head of the seventh priestly division, as organized by David. The priests were divided into 24 divisions, each responsible for serving in the temple for a week at a time, twice a year. This system ensured that all the priestly families had an opportunity to serve and that the temple services were conducted in an orderly manner.
