Sermon Sequence

  1. 1
    Sermon 1 Galatians 1:1-2:21

    Gospel Defense and Apostolic Authority

Paul defends the true gospel and his apostolic commission against distortion and human approval.

    Formation

Train believers to ask whether a teaching originates in the gospel revealed by God or in human approval systems.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, you have given grace and peace through the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age. Keep us from trusting human approval, religious performance, or any gospel that does not rest on the crucified and risen Christ. Teach us to receive your rescue with humility and to return all glory to you forever.

  2. 2
    Sermon 2 Galatians 3:1-4:31

    Promise, Law, and Sonship

The promise to Abraham, the role of the law, and the gift of sonship establish the gospel's freedom.

    Formation

Lead believers to rehearse how they first received Christ and the Spirit, then ask whether their present confidence still rests in the same gospel.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, you have set Christ crucified before us as the only ground of our redemption, and you have given the Spirit by faith, not by our works. Keep us from the folly of beginning by the Spirit and trying to be perfected by the flesh. Teach us to rest in the Son who became a curse for us, and to live as those blessed through the promise fulfilled in Him.

  3. 3
    Sermon 3 Galatians 5:1-6:10

    Freedom, Spirit, and Love

Christian freedom is not self-rule but Spirit-led life expressed through love and faithful burden-bearing.

    Formation

Teach believers to identify subtle gospel additions that sound devout but shift confidence from Christ to performance.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, you have set us free in Christ, so teach us to stand firm and refuse every yoke of slavery. Keep us from seeking righteousness through fleshly markers, religious performance, or anything added to your Son. By your Spirit, make us wait in faith for the hope of righteousness and let that faith work through love.

  4. 4
    Sermon 4 Galatians 6:11-18

    Cruciform Boasting and New Creation

Paul closes by centering the cross, rejecting boasting in the flesh, and blessing the new creation in Christ.

    Formation

Practice regular cross-centered self-examination: Where am I tempted to boast in visible religious performance?

    Prayer for this passage

Father, forbid that we should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Crucify the world's approval to us and our old boasting to the world, so that we no longer measure life by the flesh but by your new creation. Let the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ rest upon our spirits and make us faithful to the gospel until the end.
