Sermon Sequence

  1. 1
    Sermon 1 1 Peter 1:1-12

    Living Hope and Inheritance

Peter opens by blessing God for the living hope and imperishable inheritance secured in Christ.

    Formation

Receive Christian identity from God's electing mercy, not from social stability or earthly acceptance.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, I confess that I often treat my trials as evidence against your love rather than as the refining fire of my salvation, and I ask you to realign my heart to see my sufferings as you do—as the proving ground of a faith more precious than gold. Birth me afresh into that living hope secured by Christ's resurrection, and help me remember that my inheritance, kept safe in heaven and guarded by your power, cannot be shaken by any trial I face on this earth. I surrender my demand for a painless life and instead commit myself to endure present hardships as an elect exile, confident that you are working through my struggles to display the worth of Christ and refine me into his image.

  2. 2
    Sermon 2 1 Peter 1:13-2:10

    Holiness and Identity

The church is called to holy living, reverent fear, and priestly identity as God's people.

    Formation

Receive Christian identity from God's electing mercy, not from social stability or earthly acceptance.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, I confess that my conduct has often contradicted the identity purchased by Christ's precious blood and sealed by my new birth through your living Word. Awaken me to sober vigilance, that I might set apart my mind for the obedience your redemption demands, rejecting the empty desires that once enslaved me. Because you are holy and I am called to reflect that holiness, and because your Word endures forever as the foundation of my transformation, I surrender my will to be reshaped by your truth and your love.

  3. 3
    Sermon 3 1 Peter 2:11-3:12

    Exile, Conduct, and Witness

Peter teaches believers how to live honorably among the nations while bearing witness to Christ.

    Formation

Put away relational sins that contradict new birth and corrupt the church's life together.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, I confess that my flesh wars against my soul, and I need your strength to abstain from the desires that wage war within me. Make my conduct so honorable before those who watch that they may see my good deeds and glorify you in the day of visitation, recognizing that I belong to you as a sojourner here. Grant me a submissive heart that honors authority not from fear but from reverence for you, knowing that my obedience to your order speaks louder than any words about my allegiance to Christ. I surrender my reputation, my comfort, and my will to your kingdom, trusting that as I live as your elect exile, my very life becomes a testimony to your glory.

  4. 4
    Sermon 4 1 Peter 3:13-4:19

    Suffering and Glorifying God

The church learns how to suffer faithfully, entrust itself to God, and rejoice in Christ's glory.

    Formation

Let gospel identity shape conduct inside the home before seeking credibility outside the home.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, as I face the reality that righteousness may bring suffering in this world, anchor my heart in the certainty that Christ suffered once for all sins and was vindicated through His resurrection, proving that no power—earthly or spiritual—stands above His authority. When I am called to endure hardship for doing what is right, grant me the courage to remember that I am not defeated but participating in His triumph, for He is now seated at Your right hand with all things subjected to Him. I surrender my fear of suffering and my demand for earthly comfort, and I commit myself to following Christ's example, trusting that His vindication is my vindication and His reign is my hope.

  5. 5
    Sermon 5 1 Peter 5:1-14

    Shepherding, Humility, and Steadfast Grace

The closing chapter calls elders and saints alike to humility, vigilance, and grace under the Chief Shepherd.

    Formation

Recognize that church leadership is shepherding God's flock under Christ's authority.

    Prayer for this passage

Father, make us faithful under-shepherds of Your flock, willing to tend Your people not for shameful gain or domineering control, but with the eager, exemplary care that reflects Christ's own shepherding love. Guard our hearts from pride and self-exaltation, and help us remember that we answer to the Chief Shepherd who sees all and will reward faithful service. We surrender our leadership to His authority and trust that as we shepherd willingly and humbly, we will receive the unfading crown of glory when He appears.
